Direct Primary Care Membership
Direct Primary Care (DPC)
A closer, more consistent relationship with your provider — built around your health, not a billing code. Direct Primary Care includes services such as annual wellness exams, preventative care, ill visits and chronic health management.
What Is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care, often called DPC, is a healthcare model in which patients pay directly for primary care services rather than relying on the traditional insurance-based structure for routine care.
For many, this means a simpler approach for everyday healthcare - one flat monthly fee, no co-pays, and no billing surprises in between visits.
Who It May Be Especially Helpful For
Direct Primary Care is a great fit for individuals and families who are uninsured, underinsured, have a high-deductible health plan (HDHP), or are looking for a more personal, accessible approach to routine care. Many members pair DPC with a HDHP, using DPC for everyday primary care and their insurance for major medical needs.
As of January 1, 2026, certain qualifying Direct Primary Care fees may be paid with HSA funds. Because HSA coverage rules can vary by plan, patients are encouraged to check with their plan administrator or tax advisor regarding eligibility.
Why Patients Choose Direct Primary Care
Patients who are interested in Direct Primary Care are often looking for:
-
Traditional primary care practices often manage larger patient panels. Direct Primary Care allows your provider to intentionally care for fewer patients. This means more time for appointments, easier access when you need care and more opportunity truly know you and your health.
-
Longer visit times let your provider get to know you, not just your symptoms.
-
Shorter wait times for appointments, plus direct communication to your provider - no phone trees involved.
-
A flat membership fee instead of unpredictable per-visit charges or coinsurance - no surprises, no hidden costs.
-
As of January 2026, DPC membership fees are HSA-eligible under federal guidelines when pricing falls within IRS limits — our plans qualify. Please check with your HSA administrator to confirm your specific eligibility.
-
When available, discounted cash-pay lab options make routine testing more affordable and easier to plan for.
-
Direct Primary Care memberships include services such as annual wellness exams, preventative care, sick visits, and chronic health management.
What Is Included in DPC
Direct Primary Care memberships include annual wellness exams, routine primary care visits, sports physicals, sick visits, preventive care, chronic health management, discounted lab-work, extended visit time, telemedicine and in-person visits, and direct access to your provider for ongoing support.
What Is Not Included in DPC
Direct Primary Care includes many routine primary care services, but it does not replace health insurance. Services outside the practice like specialist care, hospital care, emergency care, imaging, outside laboratory testing, medications, vaccines are not included in the membership fee. Services such as mental health treatment, weight management, and hormone therapy are not bundled into the membership and are offered separately.
DPC membership is not a substitute for health insurance and does not cover emergencies.
-
Direct Primary Care is designed to cover routine primary care needs. Services such as mental health treatment, medical weight loss and hormone management often require more specialized care and individualized treatment planning, so they are offered separately.

-
At Nourishing Wellness, Direct Primary Care is available as an option for patients who want that style of care, but it is not required in order to become a patient.
Our goal is to give patients the freedom to choose the care approach that best fits their needs, preferences, and goals. Whether you are interested in Direct Primary Care or prefer another care option, you are welcome at Nourishing Wellness.
My Philosophy
I believe patients should have the freedom to choose a provider based on trust, connection, and shared goals. Not on limitations created by outside systems.
Direct Primary Care supports that philosophy by allowing for a more personal and patient-centered care experience, with time for meaningful appointments and a stronger focus on each patient’s individual needs.
If you are interested in learning more about Direct Primary Care memberships at Nourishing Wellness, I would be honored to help you explore whether it is the right fit for your healthcare needs.
